Impact Assessment

At Eco & Partner Consult, we understand that an Impact Assessment is much more than just a technical document. It leads to the development of often legally binding commitments based on and enshrined in the management plan. These are living documents that develop over the life of the project and often independently monitored. In this way, it is a developer’s technical environmental and social assessment of a project and key element of corporate social responsibility ultimately, of a company’s license to operate.

Eco & Partner has extensive experience in the design and production of Impact Assessments and Management Plans for both international, local and international projects such as in the oil and gas sector, mining, hydroelectric, agriculture and tourism, manufacturing, transport, ICT, forestry, industrial development and urban planning, among others. We offer a comprehensive range of Impact Assessment-related services from screening through scoping surveys to full impact assessments and mitigation, stakeholder engagement, development and monitoring of ESMPs, commitment register databases and disclosure processes that meets both the local legislation and international.

We offer an integrated approach that covers all aspects of environmental and social baselining, and impact assessment. We incorporate such key elements as biodiversity assessment and offsets, human rights and health issues, critical habitat and ecosystem assessments including stakeholder engagement, among others

We offer the following technical services:

    • Project feasibility and option assessment, siting, routing and planning;
    • Environmental and Social Impact Assessment

Acoustical pollution can cause health problems for people and wildlife, both on land and in the sea.

Often the effects of acoustical pollution are small; however, for some of our clients, they can become a major issue particularly when promoting new infrastructure such as roads, railways, airports and industrial facilities.

We work closely with clients and stakeholders to assess noise and vibrations emissions and the effects these may have on people, property and wildlife. We strive to anticipate concerns and design integrated and sustainable solutions before problems arise.

With the state of art equipment and experience of managing and delivering projects ranging from planning support, environmental permitting through to large-scale noise and vibration impact assessments, we have worked with different sectors providing our clients with efficient and innovative ways of solving a host of noise and vibration challenges by modelling, predicting and verifying acoustical, noise and vibration levels as per the Regulatory obligations.

We provide customized, cost-effective and professional services as per the client’s and regulatory requirements. The breadth of our work across sectors means we are able to provide insight from a number of perspectives, whatever the problem in hand.

              Water Resources Management

              Service

              Water Resources Management

Surface waters sustain ecological systems and provide habitat for many plant and animal species. They also support a myriad of human uses, including drinking water, irrigation, industrial usage, livestock, industrial uses, hydropower, and
              recreation.

Quality of life depends on diverse and complex ecological systems. As a growing body of evidence and global initiatives highlight the seriousness of biodiversity decline, and as measures are put in place to reverse this trend, it is becoming increasingly important for companies to understand and minimize their impact on ecosystems.
An informed, sustainable approach to biodiversity and ecology management can provide opportunities for business stability and growth. Failing to proactively manage biodiversity-related risks appropriately can result in failure to secure required approvals, considerable cost increases, schedule delays, and friction with local communities and other stakeholders.
Our team of professionals has experience in completing aquatic, terrestrial and wildlife surveys for a wide range of species and habitats for various projects. We work with Governments and private sectors to integrate biodiversity considerations into decision making and to develop and enhance related opportunities for business.

Our work ranges from high level corporate policy support to targeted project or issue specific work. We work with our clients to understand the biodiversity implications of their projects, develop solutions to minimize adverse impacts from key decisions to ensure compliance with relevant standards especially the International Finance Corporation Performance standards and World Bank guidelines to provide strategic advice regarding project development.

We offer technical assistance through the following services:

              • Ecology and Biodiversity Scoping studies.
              • Critical Habitats Assessment.
              • Terrestrial survey; Plants, Avifauna, Reptiles, Amphibians. Invertebrates, Large and small Mammals.
              • Developing of Biodiversity Offsets.

              Waste Management Technical Support

              Service

              Waste Management Technical Support

Waste management covers the processes and actions required to manage waste from its inception to its final disposal. Managing waste correctly is important in reducing pollution and providing a healthy and safe environment. Many problems for Businesses and Organizations have arisen due to waste being inappropriately managed.

At Eco & Partner we offer environmental consultancy services to a range of clients including waste producers, waste transporters and waste treatment and disposal facilities, its regulators and investors.

We follow the established waste management hierarchy i.e. waste prevention, minimization, reuse, recycling, energy recovery and final disposal. We have experience in providing practical advice on all waste types, including municipal, household, commercial, industrial, hazardous in various sectors such as Oil and Gas, Agriculture and Manufacturing, etc.

Eco & Partner together with Golder Associates’ undertook a strategic Option Assessment for Hazardous Waste Management in the Lake Albert Basin Development project, to inform a cradle-to-grave solution for the management of hazardous waste in the oil and gas sector in Uganda.

The study aimed at establishing the current capacity for handling hazardous waste in Uganda, project the amount of waste volumes at the peak of the development phase, identify capacity gaps and make feasible recommendations. This study was an eye opener in waste management investment in the oil and gas sector in Uganda.

Our team of professionals also helped in the improvement of standards, defining best practices, driving legislative change and promoting safe and effective methods of waste management i.e. The National Environment (Waste Management) Regulations, 2020.
